The operation of the system is based on the principle of scanning the pipe's internal surface with rotating laser triangulation sensor. The system is self-propelled, i.e. scanning along the pipe is carried out automatically as the system moves in the pipe.
The design of the system is shown in Fig. 1.

The design of the system is shown in Fig. 1. The system contains a measurement head carrying the set of replacement centering wheels (1); measuring wheel (2); traction wheel (3); two laser sensors (4), placed inside rotating head; front camera (5) with LED lighting (6); replacement battery (7). Also shown: connectors for fiber optics communication channels (12), (13); power supply ON/OFF button (14); battery level indicator (15) with red button; a slot for SD card (16); Wi-Fi antenna (17); hook for connecting safety cord (18).
The system operates as follows.
The system is placed inside the pipe, the distance between the measured sections is specified in the control program. The system sequentially moves to the required control positions. Rotating laser sensors measure the distance to the surface of the pipe. The polar coordinates of the surface (the distance from the axis of rotation measured by the sensors and the corresponding angle of rotation) are transmitted to the PC for calculating the required geometric parameters of the pipe. Images of the inner surface are accumulated on a memory card and then transferred to a computer.
The system is supplied in a special case that protects the equipment against any possible damage during transportation (Fig. 2).
